You know they said that 1/4 of the supplements which contained prescription meds were manufactured by the same company but they would not release the name of that company until charges/penalties have been implemented. I sure would like to know who that is.

You think that the company name will be known one day? Putting Prozac in supplements, that's criminal!

Surely this information MUST become public knowledge. A company committing a crime should be no different than a person. In my opinion, if it has been proven, the first port of call is to protect the public, thus knowledge should be given.

Hey you guys, have you any ideas of how many companies do this?

How many companies are there?

Last, thank you!

The FDA did not specify exactly how many companies were involved in their study and of course they didn't sample every brand of every supplement out there. As far as total companies, well there are disagreements but on the average around 40,000 drug manufacturers worldwide with America being the biggest with around 4 or 5 thousand, India second around 4,000.

I did find this.

https://www.newsday....rules-1.5920525

About 70 percent of the nation's supplement companies have run afoul of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's manufacturing regulations over the past five years, according to a top agency official.
Consumers are put at risk by poorly measured ingredients, uncleaned manufacturing equipment, pesticides in herbal products, supplements contaminated with illegal prescription medications -- even bacteria in pediatric vitamins, recall notices and agency inspection records have shown.

Note - There are around 450 supplement manufacterers in the USA alone.

Was that written lately? If so, they list the name of many companies.

Mira and Purity are in deep shit. Thanks for the link, it's worth reading.

Well, a brief update. I have been on the 500mg 2 times per day of Lion's Mane mushroom for 3 weeks. Still working well. When my next bottle comes in I will go to 3 times per day and see if there is any additional benefit. Right now symptoms are very minimal and would qualify as annoying. A piece of cake compared to Cymbalta withdrawal.  lol

I did a little experiment a couple of days ago. I had ordered some sublingual melatonin to use to take the edge off in case of a major problem developing. It is 30 drops to make 3 mg. The 3 mg dose is the recommended dose to help get to sleep (or back to sleep as the case may be). Some research has indicated that a smaller dose could be used to treat bouts of anxiety during the day. So a couple days ago I felt a little agitated and decided to try 4 drops (0.4 mg). It kicked in in about 15 minutes. I was a little sleepy for about 30 minutes and then quite calm and relaxed for about 2 or 3 hours. Not to bad. I am glad to have it around as continue to keep trying things it will give me a fall back in case I need one.

I did have one minor issue with it. You are suppose to put the drops under the tongue and let it stay there until absorbed. This brand is vanilla flavored  and as soon as it hit my mouth I started salivating like crazy. My mouth was so overrun by saliva I was swallowing constantly so I don't know how much was absorbed sublingual and how much I swallowed. lol

Will be good to see if you can eek out a little more benefit from the mushroom - are you aware of any potential side effects from ingesting too much?

Was the salivating due to the flavoring? Or a side effect of the melatonin do you think??

Interesting to try as a kind of "rescue remedy".

That is a good question about the side effects. I found nothing to indicate any side effects at less than 3000 mg a day. This is a good thing.

I don't know if it was the flavoring but I can tell you I was worse than that dog on the video. lol  That was too funny!!

Question here...

Wondering if my sleep problems, which have accelerated to almost unbelievable non-sleeping, can be tied to the past withdrawal of our favorite C.

I purchased 16mg melatonin which is of no help.

I wake up about every 2 hrs but 2 nites ago I woke up at 230am and never could get back to sleep!!  AAARrrrgh!!!!!  Other nites I am awake for 2-3 hrs each time I wake up.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

It is doubtful that the sleep issue is related to coming off the Cymbalta. Also, 16 mg of melatonin is way too much and can actually interfere with sleep. I would recommend a sublingual melatonin. Like....

https://www.amazon.c...e?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would start low with about 10 drops under the tongue. The advantage of sublingual is that it goes into action fast. If you wake up in the middle of the night just repeat the dose and you should be back to sleep in a few minutes. The 10 drops is a starting point so you will have to adjust that dose up or down as needed. By the way 10 drops of this product is just 1 gram! You should not exceed 5 grams in one night.

Many thanks for the info, FH!

I have added this to my monthly Amazon subscription order and am looking forward to using it...  :D

Guess I should throw out the 16mg stuff?

Either that or use a small part of it at a time until the sublingual comes in.

I have used the sublingual method many times as it also bypasses the stomach. When I took valium for example. There was speculation over whether to take with, before, after food - you dissolve it under the tongue and none of this matters.

Ooh and you save 95 cents by subscribing there Liz. Clever Amazon taking our money!!

Well, things have been becoming a little touchier lately (March 4th) so I had to slow down from a 1% drop every 3 days to a 0.67% drop every 3 days. That helped. My next bottles of Lion's Mane will be in Saturday so I will start on 3 a day of those instead of two at that time. I am a little disappointed that the anxiolytic effect of the Lion's Mane has seemed to wane.

Maybe there is a tolerance build-up to it? Many have found this with ashwagandha and have done 2 weeks on with a week off. Seems a bit odd to me, but just stating for the record as it has been bought to mind in your case.

See what happens with the 3-up.

Fisherman, have you experimented with suntheanine yet?

So going up on Ativan has made you feel better? Contrary to what we say. Thanks for updating.

As for the Ativan, going a slight bit up made a change? Thanks for updating.

You may be right IUN. I will try the 3 a day for 2 weeks and if that doesn't help I any have to alternate. 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

Gail, I did not go back up on the Ativan I only dropped at a slower rate. Benzos don't do me any good anyway and going back up seldom helps anyone. I haven't tried the Suntheanine yet. I will as soon as I am done with the Lion's Mane mushroom.
