There are two choices but I must agree with Gail in the fact you need to address this right away. Cymbalta controls serotonin which is mainly produced in the intestines. With Cymbalta withdrawal serotonin levels fluctuate and this causes better conditions for bad bacteria to flourish in the intestines and good bacteria to decline. I would highly suggest once you get the bowel moving with a laxative that you begin taking a good probiotic. this will give your good bacteria a chance to take over and decrease your bad bacteria. Good bacteria are essential for proper digestion. The digestion you get from bad bacteria causes inflammation related conditions around the body.

Aw Gail thank you, you don't need to worry. I had an endoscopy done, nothing is wrong, the gastroenterologist gave me some dietary advice and prescribed magnesie calcine and something to help bowel movement. Reduced gas significantly that I can sleep better now.

The psychiatrist gave me Xanax 0,75 mg a day in addition to Zoloft. I feel like myself but half asleep, which is quite the development from the suicidal thinking. And if I sleep through the first hours after taking Zoloft, I get through the day better.

Adjustments, adjustments, people.

Hello, the Nutella fanatic is back!

I’ve been taking 50 mg Zoloft and 0,75 mg Xanax (0,25 in the morning, rest in the evening). Got used to this combo, masks my attacks, and I’ve learned to deal with them a bit. Today we reduced Xanax to 0,5 mg in total.

What I want to ask is, nothing but my own system is trying to regulate norepinephrine now, right? Might this be the source of my anxiety while my body is adjusting?

Hey Ozgun - good to see you!

Not quite so with the norepinephrine. Levels can change with SSRI as well as SNRI, but to different extents obviously. No enough is known and could obviously be subjective to a degree, but studys suggest that levels are altered nonetheless;

https://www.ncbi.nlm...pubmed/20816814

But which ever way you look at it, your body will be adjusting to the chemical imbalance bought about from the removal of substances in your system - the result of which can be depression, anxiety... you name it.

Maybe Hat will have more on the subject, but that is my 10 cents worth.

I read the topic Emilia (EBB) started. So I say, as FH puts it, “Time and patience”.

Zoloft - NET - 420–817 Ki (nM) 925 (IC50)

Cymbalta - 7.5 Ki (nM)

The smaller the value, the more strongly the drug binds to or inhibits the site.

So, Cymbalta is roughly 100 more times effective at blocking norepinephrine transporter.
Yes, you are right. Your body is fighting to control the norepinephrine.

Thank you IUN and FH. I don’t want to rely on Xanax in my adjustment period, but it seems like I will have to.

Ozgun, if I wake up early and very anxious, I'll take a .5 Xanax. It helps, hopefully it will help you too! I only take as needed.

I've now got a dose of pregabalin/lyrica to sort this damn withdrawal out. Can't say I am happy, but you get to a point. I don't intend to stay on it any longer than I have to. Just until the Lexapro reaches it's max, which should be in around 4 weeks. Don't want another withdrawal - already got two on the go....

I don’t wake up anxious anymore but I grow anxious during the day. I did exactly what you did when it happened, and it works :)

I’m waiting for Zoloft to reach its max as well. I’m not depressed but the anxiety coming and going is a bit discouraging.

Thanks for the reassurance!! btw, I only take a xanax as needed... maybe 1 or 2 a week. And my doctor did give me a large amount in the prescription, I felt like a drug addict getting that filled.  <_<

Oz... it is similar here. The depression is only there because of the anxiety (aside from when I lost my friend last week - but this is understandable). But the anxiety just won't settle and I am trying to find the triggers. But it is the stress that finds me no matter what I do.

I must have told the MH team to come after 12 noon dozens of times, but they ALWAYS turn up first thing in the morning when I am on around 4-5 hours sleep. I tell them every time, but they always conveniently forget. Just one thing out of my control which I know contributes to my anxiety... Grrrrr.

They do. We have two levels of support here in the UK. The community team and the crisis team. If you need support on an as and when basis, you are with the community team (who are USELESS), or if you need access to a team more frequently, you are moved to the crisis team. I am with them because my progress is being monitored due to seizures and so forth. You can also call the crisis team 24/7 for support if needed. Although they work on a pager service, so it is not immediate.

So much for immediate, then.

I have to leave my hometown for thesis work. I don’t know if I want to set foot in the faculty.

I have to leave on Tuesday, and as long as I manage, honestly. My dad will be accompanying me, so I won’t be alone.

But still, my body and mind is not ready. I’m gonna let the advisor see if I break down.

Guys, thanks :') I won't stop posting, of course. And we don't have Christmas the way you do. No holiday for me :)

And yes, I love Nutella. Not as much as I did when I was a teenager, but still.

Glad to hear that you will still be with us, dear Oz.

And I did wonder if you shared the same holidays as other cultures. I know my friends in Serbia and Bulgaria have St Nicholas' Day which is not quite the same.

Regardless, if I were there with you, I would buy you a big jar of Nutella :) :)

It is my understanding that most Turkish people are Muslim although certainly there are exceptions. Don't worry about us Ozgun. If you are Muslim that is OK with us.

Very close. Turkey or in Turkish, “Türkiye”.

https://www.timeandd...ey/new-year-eve
As this is only my second New Year’s celebration in about 8 years (finals week), I haven’t been celebrating as I should :)

We don’t do Thanksgiving nor Xmas, and I don’t think we have the same beliefs, I’m not sure. The link sums up pretty much what happens. Heck, even I didn’t know Turkish families ate turkey on NYE?

Thank you IUN, I appreciate it :)

FH, I read somewhere that Turkish are not your traditional Muslim folk. I don’t have any info besides that.

There are so many sects of Muslims it is hard to keep up. lol

It is just like Christians who have dozens of different denominations. lol

It doesn't matter Ozgun.

Oh yes - I remember now. It all happens on the New Year - as it does with other areas of eastern Europe too.

But some that way go by the Orthodox calendar rather than the Gregorian, so those that celebrate Christmas do so ass-about-face on the other side of the New Year - I believe it is the 7th.
