You will still be experiencing withdrawal-type symptoms for a few days yet I would imagine, even though you have gone back up.

I know that sounds odd, but a wound doesn't heal the moment you apply the plaster (band-aid for our overseas friends!)

Sure enough blood levels will balance out within 3-4 days, but to then establish the relevant circuits in the brain will still take time. This will be the same for all AD's, but those with a shorter half-life (such as Cymbalta) will be more evident in the continuation of lower dose effects.

IVUN & Fish - I took a 10mg propanolol (Beta Blocker). Drifter off to sleep after half an hour & woke back up after an hour heart beating very fast again & very dry mouth. So had e hrs sleep in total & a busy day at work ahead 😢. Would you recommend continuing with the full 40mg dose or is my body now not liking this dose?

Could I get Serotonin Syndrome from 40mg? The GP told me to watch out for it going back up. Which I didn't think would happy just going back up by 20 beads.

Hi Axle,

I am so sorry.  It sure sounds like you have been through the wringer!  Can I ask you,  when you were on the 20mg Celexa for the eight years was it controlling your anxiety and depression?  Were you feeling good?

Seems like after your heart palpitations on June 12 there was an awful lot of switching meds going on.  You never got back to the original 20mg of Celexa correct?  Looks like you finally ended up at 10mg by July 26?  Any thoughts why not back to 20mg?

It doesn't sound like the switch from 10mg Celexa to 20mg of Cymbalta in August was any help at all.

Can I ask if you are having any of the other classic symptoms of withdrawl like nausea, brain zaps etc.?

Also, can I ask if there is any bipolar in your family or "crazy" relatives? I only ask this because my ADs were not controlling my anxiety and feelings of depersonalization and not being able to handle my life.  My son and I are bipolar and I see now that I have a lot of undiagnosed relatives in my family history.   Antidepressants can actually make symptoms worse if a mood stabilizer is not added to the mix.  Just a thought.

Hope you can enjoy your thanksgiving.

No bi polar I have borderline personality disorder which lamotragine is used to help that's a mood stabilizer in the beginning I had all the classic symptoms nausea and bad acid problems dropped 12 pounds in 30 days without trying then what you call brain zaps after about a month of just lots of panic attacks and wearing my nerves down to nubs which btw I didn't know it was seratonin withdrawl at first 3 months later and I'm just dealing with bouts of anxiety sweaty palms depersonlisation but as fish has said time and patience the dr refuses to put me back on celexa because of elongated qtc and to be honest I'm gonna just stay at the 30mg cymbalta get some cbd and ashwanda and ride this crap out because at the end of the day that's all it is time and patience I also noticed I have been giving myself information overload to the point of stressing myself out

"I have been giving myself information overload to the point of stressing myself out "

That you have Axle, but don't beat yourself up over it. Just take a stand back and take some much needed time out. You are only doing what you thought best. Also glad you have made a decision on the pills. Naturally I am worried about the withdrawal for the Cym, but all the while you are here, we can get you through it in the best and safest way possible.

Noush - 10mg propanolol is a very low dose; the normal dose for anxiety-induced symptoms is between 20-40mg. It will also take up to an hour before it reaches full effect, so half hour would not have been sufficient. Ideally they are used as a preventative, rather than a mid-attack cure, so rather than a pre-emptive strike, you were using the propanolol in the thick of it. So this all combined would explain the continuing symptoms. I also sincerely doubt that you could have SS from 40mg. Not saying it is not possible, but highly unlikely.

Just know I'm here for all of you as you ate for me its sad we live in a time that dr s give out meds like candy with no consideration. Of the effects they have or what may happen if the pill is no longer there being a former soldier there is a certain amount of animosity I hold for these drs I fought for my country and could have been killed I'm not saying this because I want any thank yous or anything like that I'm proud of what I've done but you would think the drs woikdn care a little more about my quality of life but they goes for all of you too I'm not special we all have to go through this because of misinformation. And neglect

My hat to you AxleJames for having taken your decision of staying on 30mg Cymbalta, with CBD and ashwaghanda.

I will respect your decision to ride it out. And will no longer give any suggestions of this and that.

You already seem better! Love, Gail

Ah, AxleJames, I love you! You're on the track that you have chosen yourself, and that's good because you or I or FH or Scrat or Noush or Juli want you to be good and safe.

Ask each of us individually, and you'll have 5 or 6 different advices. Oh yeah! God is having the laugh of his day!lol

Yes, the decision left undecided would have been stress in itself. People often feel relief for a while when something like this happens. Like when I had an end-date for my last dose of Cymbalta. Blissfully unaware of what was in store, but nonetheless, I have started the path and walking towards the light.

But don't ever play down what you did for - not just your country - but others like us here in the UK. Us Brits have a lot to thank you for.

Incidentally, I was almost in Iraq myself. A close mate I was with at Uni got asked to join back after he finished the undergrad. He went out to head a team for movement ops for military personnel. He asked me to join him for an 18 month stretch. I was really stuck with what to do. But I got offered a scholarship to stay at the Uni, so I went with that in the end. Not nearly as dangerous as your position, but I still wonder what would have happened if I had gone.

Gail is right there as well - we are a good team!

Axle - "I feel like I'm just watching people talk but from a distance or like hyper focused on an individual or situation and the ringing in my ears is pretty terrible"

Dissociated and tinnitus. Both relating to your withdrawal. Rememb er that Serptpnin is the second most common neurotransmitter in the human body. It is found in the gut, eyes, ears, skin, heart, etc. That is why withdrawal from an ssri and a snri upsets the whole body.

Axle, I read that history, ridiculous what they did to you. There are so many research articles that show it is not wise to change antidepressant or change dose within 2 or 3 months (depends on the article) of a previous change. Most recommend 4 months or more. So if they want to increase your Celexa to say 40 mg then the dr should wait at least 2 months before changing to a different AD or changing doses again. Of course one exception is some type of adverse reaction. What they did to you was terrible and they should experiencee it themselves.

"November 28th will be 8 weeks off celexa today my palms are sweaty obsessive thinking has returned along with paranoia and its Thanksgiving"

Well the good news is that the firast 2 to 3 months is usually the worst. Hang in there Axle.

"Can I take 1000mg fish oil 30mg duloxetine 200 mg lamotragine and 800 mg ashwangdha safely"

Shouldn't be a problem but I would suggest starting with 100 mg of Ashwangdha and buildup from there. This is your first time on it so error on the side of caution.

"Just realized that feeling like my life will be somehow cut short is from my PTSD not sure how to deal with this"

PTSD is a unique form of anxiety so it is not surprising that you feel that way as it causes paranoia about health and life just as withdrawal does.

Noush - "Fish - so I was feeling quite 'out of it' all day yesterday & towards the evening having burst of feeling hot & sick & anxious for no apparent reason. Came to bed & woke after 2 hours with my heart racing. No real anxiety, apart from caused by this heart racing. Looked back at a text to Juli from July explaining that I was starting a taper cos I was getting dizzy & having headaches & didn't think it was agreeing with me anymore."

You know that going back up on dose sometimes dose this. It usually helps with the withdrawal symptoms when you go back up in dose but it just seems to take time for some peoples bodys to adjust back to being on the Cymbalta. Not unusual.

"I took a 10mg propanolol (Beta Blocker). Drifter off to sleep after half an hour & woke back up after an hour heart beating very fast again & very dry mouth. So had e hrs sleep in total & a busy day at work ahead . Would you recommend continuing with the full 40mg dose or is my body now not liking this dose?"

"Could I get Serotonin Syndrome from 40mg? The GP told me to watch out for it going back up. Which I didn't think would happy just going back up by 20 beads. "

The dry mouth from the propanolol doesn't surprise me but the heart pounding does. Propanolol is actually prescribed to treat that condition. You didn't eat any chocolate, salty food, coffee, very sweet food, etc did you?

I would continiue on the 40 mg until stable. The serotonin syndrome us unlikely if you are just returning to your previous dosage. It normally is on ly an issue if you go back upto a much higher dose.

As I said before Axle, 6 to 8 months before you see a lot of improvement. The first 2 or 3 months are the worst.

Axle - Only one study I read noted one individual that developed ... "One volunteer showed increased appetite, libido, and hallucinogenic effects with vertigo at the lowest dose and was withdrawn from study." This is out of hundreds of people in the various studies. Also 2 members of our website had a histamine reaction to the ashwangda. Runny nose, irritated eyes, Congestion and headaches.

Serotonin Symptoms are a little similar to the withdrawal symptoms but one key difference is a fever of 102F or greater.

KSM-66 is typically three times stronger than non KSM-66 as it is standardized (in withonoids).

I would imagine that it would not be KSM, and therefore 100mg is a VERY small dose, but I agree with Fish insomuch that this is a new substance to your organism and needs to be approached with caution at first, but do not be surprised if you feel nothing from it until you get higher.

A typical dose for effect of ashwaghanda would be anywhere between 400mg-3000mg - for KSM, this can be reduced.

I started feeling effects from 400mg KSM when I started.

OK -the spring valley is not KSM-66, so whilst I would say 800mg is a very safe dose, just dump some of the powder out and try a small dose to start, but I can more or less guarantee that you will feel very little until closer to the 800mg, so don't worry if that is the case.

You will find this "warning" on just about any interactions concerning AD's and similar simply because together they can cause SS, just the same that an overdose of 1 AD can do the same.

If people work their doses out correctly the likelihood of SS is very slim in most cases.

It is there for people who may be looking at switching Cymbalta with Lexapro thinking the doses are the same, and might take 30mg of each thinking they are taking the same dose, when in fact 30mg of lexapro is already trouble in itself!
