That is a good sign but be careful of the last little bit.

Yes, I know. I've got a ways to go yet!  :)

Hi Kathy, I just started this process with a drop from 90 to 60. I am on the Citron generic.

When I get to 30 I'll be doing a slow taper and counting pellets. So you just answered my question about what is in a Citron generic. Glad to hear it's the small pellets, like the name brand.

I'll be using your guidelines for tapering help, so thanks. Good luck on the job interview and on eventually tapering to zero.

Hi BB! Welcome! I hope I can help you. I'm still on 55%.

I got my C refill at the same pharmacy and it's a different brand. I haven't used it yet so I hope it works. I only need a refill every other month since I don't discard the C I'm not using, I keep it to fill more capsules.

This brand is Breckenridge. I'll let you know when I start using it.

Good luck!

Gail, I was on 60mg for 11 years. I started a slow taper in November and I'm down to 30mg now. :)

Thanks for responding Kathy. Wow, 11 years on, and now it seems that you are doing real well with the "time and patience" required and preached by our sweet Fishinghat. Always stick by him. We are here anytime for you!

Gail, I tried to taper about 6 years ago, I don't remember how long it took but I was off completely for a few weeks and had to go back on, I was miserable!! I didn't weigh the beads back then, I was just estimating when I filled the capsules. I think I took about 4 months to taper, and that was too fast for me. This slower taper seems much better. I do wish I had been here 6 years ago, I would have probably have only gone back on 30mg. It would be so much better tapering from 30, instead of 60!! :)

So, unrelated question. I've read a few posts today that mention PMS (I'm way older so do not have to worry about that, lol). I'm assuming  that fishinghat is a male, just because of the name 'fishing'. Am I right? So see where my brain goes... Yea, that didn't make much sense to me now that I reread it!

Well. that is pretty clear  thinking for someone going through Cymbalta withdrawal.  lol

Actually I am male, or I use to be before Cymbalta. It left me with a condition called PSSD (Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction). It left me with no abilities and even no sensation in that department. I don't even feel pain in that area. So I guess I am only technically a male. lol  Sorry, I have been told this is permanent (4 years now) and it really brings out the anger in me towards Eli Lilley. What CAN'T this medicine do to you?

http://www.inchem.or...harm/pim937.htm

Diethylpropion hydrochloride

6.1 Absorption by route of exposure Amphetamine is rapidly absorbed after oral ingestion. Peak plasma levels occur within 1 to 3 hours, varying with the degree of physical activity and the amount of food in the stomach. Absorption is usually complete by 4 to 6 hours. Sustained release preparations are available as resin-bound, rather than soluble, salts. These compounds display reduced peak blood levels compared with standard amphetamine preparations, but total amount absorbed and time to peak levels remain similar (Dollery, 1991).

6.3 Biological half-life by route of exposure Under normal conditions, about 30% of amphetamine is excreted unchanged in the urine but this excretion is highly variable and is dependent on urinary pH. When the urinary pH is acidic (pH 5.5 to 6.0), elimination is predominantly by urinary excretion with approximately 60% of a dose of amphetamine being excreted unchanged by the kidney within 48 hours. When the urinary pH is alkaline (pH 7.5 to 8.0), elimination is predominantly by deamination (less than 7% excreted unchanged in the urine); the half-life ranging from 16 to 31 hours (Ellenhorn, 1997).

7.1.1 Toxicodynamics Amphetamine appears to exert most or all of its effect in the CNS by causing release of biogenic amines, especialy norepinephrine and dopamine, from storage sites in nerve terminals. It may also slow down catecholamine metabolism by inhibiting monoamine oxidase (Hardman et al., 1997).

Note - NOT a drug to be taking during withdrawal as it further alters the neurotransmitters.

University of Rochester Medical Center

Levels of amphetamine within the range 0.02 to 0.05 milligrams/liter (mg/L) and even up to 0.2 mg/L fall under the category of therapeutic, or prescribed use.

A concentration greater 0.2 mg/L is likely a sign of use.

Levels greater than 2.5 mg/L can be toxic and possibly fatal.

How Long Is Amphetamine Detectable in Urine?
Amphetamine can be detected in a urine test from 2-5 days.

How Long Does Amphetamine Stay in the Blood?
Blood tests for amphetamine can detect the drug for up to 12 hours.

How Long Does Amphetamine Show Up in Saliva?
A saliva test can reveal amphetamine for 1-5days

I'm at 45% of 60MG. So far so good, I can't tell I bumped down from 50%.  :D

I'm on 35% of the 60mg pill. I know I was supposed to do a percentage of the last amount I've been on, but I've always been doing a percentage of the total pill and seem to be doing okay.

And, this last refill has been a different brand, I didn't notice that until after I had the prescription filled a few weeks ago. It's Breckenridge. I weighed and averaged the contents of 3 capsules just to be sure it was the same as the previous brand I was given. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and it seems fine.

Today was my first at 35%. I hope it all continues well for me. My head/brain is always a little whooshy, but I think that is tinnitus that I've had forever.

Keep it up, Kathy. Sounds like you've got this nailed.

I'm going down a bit faster than you are, and hoping that the final stages don't come back to bite me. I'm actually down to 4 mg, and will now begin tapering by beads. No "great leaps forward" at this critical point.

I hope it continues to go well for you.

4mg, wow that is fast! I've been tapering since November, but didn't really start with 2 week drops until February.

What % is that? Are you weighing the beads?

I'm still doing okay on the 35%, I made another week's worth of capsules today. The Breckenridge brand are much easier to open than the other brands I've had.

Continued good luck to you!!

I'm going to start 30% of 60MG tomorrow. If this dose is okay with me, I'm going to stay on it for a few months since I'm starting a new job on August 21st.

  30% of 60mg might not work. Brain zaps today on the 2nd day. I hope they subside.

I'm going to be gone until mid September (I am home Labor Day weekend). I will stay on 18mg until after my work trips.

I'm not understanding this. I know my C has the little parts in it..pills? Not sure. My bottle says Duloxetine delayed-release capsules USP (60mg). How do I taper off this medication? I want off of this stuff as soon as possible.

Thanks fishinghat!

How are you all here? I have a new job (the one I started in August was awful and did not last  :P ) so I haven't been here in awhile. I'm travelling to Tennessee weekly now. I don't plan to wean down to zero anytime soon.
