5 months on cymbalta, scary side effects, to get help and to return the favor if I can.

Hi HTSP,

Bon voyage! I hope that you speak Spanish and Italian, you will need it.

Yep, life can be beautiful as it can be #$@*&\. So, enjoy it while it's passing.

Hasta mañana, so Dios quiere! Quelque chose comme ca. Sangria y whatever!

Hi Guys and Gals,

I haven't been around for quite a while.  I was down to 28 beads (20 mg) when withdrawal hit a couple of weeks ago.

And we'd upped the Zoloft to 50 mg.  I'd been working on that taper since October and doing well.  The lower I

get, the tougher it is.

When I spoke to the "new" nurse practitioner - hate that when they change you at a critical point - he thinks it's

the norepinephrine causing the withdrawal since the increase of Zoloft over a month ago hasn't phased the withdrawal.

I'm thankful I watch my symptoms carefully.  The minute I get dizzy, I know I have to bump up slightly and hold for several

days before resuming the slow taper.

I've been on the drug for over 10 years.  If I'm able to get off the drug during 2017, it will have taken me three years to

taper!!

Glad you are all still here!!

Good to hear from you. It sounds like you are having the typical withdrawal. I am so glad you are patient in dealing with it. By the way your nurse is correct. Cymbalta regulates serotonin and norepinephrine and Zoloft only regulates serotonin. That is why there is till some suffering to be experience but the Zoloft usually helps. 50 mg is a fairly low dose so don't worry, once the Cymbalta is done you can deal with the Zoloft.

How fast are you tapering right now?

Since last week I lowered from 150 to 135 beads and yesterday evening and this night were pretty heavy... I think I have to taper even more slowly.
I think I'm going to lower by 1 mg on 10 days, like 1 bead a day.... Am I the only one that has to lower this slow??

No, not at all. That is slower than most but I remember at least two other members since I have been here that took 1 year or more to come off. It was slow but successful.

The one I remember most is Equus Woman, one bead day. And she made it quite good.
No time span, but we are all in a hurry as we are so human and want to get rid of it.

Such is life! Equus Woman, should you read this, please put your two cents worth.

I am not sure but I think Lady Nancy and TM were both at it over a year.

Today I stabilized at 135 beads finally... Tomorrow I stay at 135 and after then I will lower by 2 beads.

My lower back does hurt... I suppose that isn't withdrawal?

It is hard to say. Cymbalta withdrawal frequently causes muscle and joint pain, especially preexisting pain, but usually it is more generalized rather than in one spot.

Yep, I would bet on it. If it gets too bad just hold your dosage the same for a few days and then start weaning again a little slower. Sounds like you are still doing well. How low on the beads have you gone?

120 beads today, so still 2 months to go at least... We're getting there eventually.

Also I'm a lot more tired then I used to. Is it withdrawal FH?
I think I'm going to wait on lowering a few days...

The fatigue is common and pausing a few days before dropping again is the safest thing to do in case this is an "early warning" symptom.

I'm on 114 beads now TFL... still counting down.

Sometimes it's like I'm so tired/burned out but I make myself strong that it's the weaning process.

The next day I'm much better so...

One of the most common symptoms. If it increases you may need to pause for a while.

I'm going to pause for a few days on 10mg now because the agitation feeling is increasing... What a strange feeling I must say.

It was time to stop lowering because the unrest feeling hits me practically all day. With 0.25mg alprazolam I'm better. I will stay on 10mg until this fucked feeling is gone. Mentally I'm pretty okay. Cheers guys

FH, you think that this agitation/unrest feeling goes away when I stop lowering?
