Is there anything I can take to help with the depression that I can't shake.  I feel so alone and sad all the time.  Cry like crazy and can't stand the emotional pain anymore.  Is there something that helps that doesn't have the withdrawls like Cymbalta.  I just want to feel good and happy again.  Thanks for any help!

Hi there Bnl,

I believe that you are at about the ten week mark.

Even telling you that depression is a norm at this time, it will not help you. Usually at the twelve weeks off, you get better days followed by shit days.

You are going through meno, hormone imbalance have about the same symptoms as discontinuation. At times we don't know which is which.

I would go with getting hormone replacement. I have and it did help a great deal in the first years of Peri and meno. And it does not take long to kick in. I would suggest the estrogen patch plus progesterone.

You have nothing to lose here, you won't know if you don't try.

Yes, we all want to feel good and happy, sorry to say it can take a while. There is no time limit here, just approximates, even then...
We are all unique and react in different ways.

Do you take any benzos? Other meds? Any anxiety?

Any good moments, hours? What symptoms do you have that makes you say you are going through menopause?

Bnl,

I have to agree with Gail - give the hormone therapy a chance before you try something else.  If you do more than one thing, you won't know what is helping!

Please call your Dr. and get a RX...

Give it a try and please come back to let us know how you are doing! I hope that this will do the job - I understand how you feel, as I have been having similar feelings, but it is not meno.  I am over 11 months off now and still have short bouts of depression.  I am improving so am trying to hold off on getting on any other med.

Wishing you the best...

Hugs,

Liz

Thank you so much for the advice.  It really helps.  I have a appointment with gyno in a few days to discuss Hormone Replacement Therapy.  Hopefully that will help. I am on no other medications. I did start taking a natural pill called Min-Tran. A friend gave to me for helping with anxiety and insomnia.  I've only been taking it for 3 days and it's helped tremendously with both sleep and panic. Now the only symptom left is depression.  I also get hot flashes from the menopause.

I have good days and bad with depression.  Lately more bad than good and that's scary to think it may not go away or get worse.  I know it all takes time.  This website has been so helpful.

Thanks so much for the support!!

Bnl,

Now I'm curious - where does one get this Min-Tran?  It's all natural?  A health food store perhaps?  I still have sleep problems so would like to give it a try!

Thanks!!

And we're happy to help - any time, just come here and post!!

Bnl,

Curious also about tin man, never heard of this. Did I say tin man? Oops, min Tran.

Hot flashes will be relieved and you will sleep better with the hormones.

What a coincidence, appointment with your gyn! And I see that you have good days, great! Do you still have your periods?

And don't worry, easy to say here, when depression hits, we all think we will be in it forever.

Keep a journal of the good days, I color mine in green, so when it hits again, you can refer to it. Good thing I do, because when in the heat of shitty days, I can see that there were four green days and I will have them again. It helps a bit.

Keep us posted Bnl, we care ā™„

I got the Min-Tran from a friend and she ordered me more thru her friend that lives in Texas.  If you google it, you'll find it.  I can't believe how well it's working for me.  All natural so worth a try.  I read reviews on it too and seemed to help a lot of people with sleep issues and calms the nerves.

I haven't had a period now for 6 months and am 54 years old.  I'm sure my hormones are out of whack so hope that the HRT will help with all symptoms but especially my mood.

Great idea to keep track of my good days.  Because as you know when you have the bad days they seem like they are going to last forever.

Thank you so much for the support.  I'll keep you posted  about the HRT.

Bnl and Gail,

I found the Min Tran on Amazon -- 90 tabs for 11.97 -- Brand is Standard Process.  Suggested dosage 4 tabs w/each meal.  I don't eat 3 meals a day, so guess I'll wing that part!

Thanks again for the info - and since it's natural, no worries! :)

Bnl, forgot to mention that progesterone or progestin can, in certain women, can make you feel depressed.

Had no problem with it for the first eight years. Then the shit hit the fan. Just had to mention that.

Min Tran stands for mineral tranquilizer.
Potassium, calcium and?

Magic here, how did a topic go from What are you feeling to Let's talk about something else? It was at the right place this morning early and jumped to here....

I hope that your visit to the doc pays off Lizā™„
PCP is a doc right? What do the letters stand for?

Right, Gail!

PCP - Primary Care Physician (General Practioner)

Need some updates on RX's and have some questions...  I really like her, so I'm sure all will go well!

I don't know either what is going on with the posts -  do they wait until we sign out and then all move around? :P

The posts must have a mind of their own!
Guess that discontinuation symptoms don't happen to only humans!

You made me laugh there with the moving around.

Thanks for clearing the initials, I was OK with GP but PCP was new to me

Gail, unfortunately this Min Tran also contains magnesium which I found out I cannot take.  Remember when fishinghat posted that 4% of people taking it develop anxiety?  Guess who is in the 4%!!! :(

I just tried to cancel this order I placed today, but don't know if it might be too late.

Yes, I remember this, saying you were in the 4%.

Amazon are great for returning or canceling orders, did so once with no problem.
