Helps tremendously

A rat? Color? Black birds, are these the same as our Quiscals? The autograph might be wrong. Here, they used to call them Mainates.

Will look it up.

Your rat has good taste Liz, one of the good ones!!! Don't poison him, he's got class!

Bless your cardinals.

tremendously tired

Gail, I have looked up Red Winged Blackbird on the internet but cannot seem to copy and paste - if you try, I'm sure you will find it!

No, a robin is not black!  It is brown with a red breast...

Back not bothering me now, but the fibro has kicked in to take it's place!  Barometer fell 2 inches yesterday and I could feel it before I even got out of bed!

I also have trouble copying pictures to the site.  I believe they are called "Carouge à épaulettes" in French.

That's it

Carouge, yes, we have them. So this is a black bird?
A mix squirrel rat. Why not?

Sure hope that his tail is not furry!

By the way, Hat,what is not expensive and can be fed to my crow? Besides ham and cheese?

Another drainage this morning, the pain got me almost crazy last night. Pacing around the house like a mad woman. Tried everything under the sun, scary moments. I mean SCARY.

it is

Gail, the cheapest thing is a bag of cracked corn from a farm supply store. They usually sell it in 50 lb or 100 lb bags but many will sell it by the pound. You might want to call around first and see what the prices and availability is in your area. They use it for cattle and poultry feed but the crows love it.

Right now it costs around $0.54 to $1/lb here.

Is good

Thanks, will look that up.

Drainage was a fiasco, the stuff in there is too thick. Hospital tomorrow noon to see what they can do. Life is sweet.

Grief indeed

My third day here. It was drained last Friday with success. It stopped yesterday doing its job.

Oh, yes, they are paying attention like never.

This is a real hard patch. I'm exhausted from the pain, and this too shall pass and it better be soon. Thanks Fishinghat!

indeed sad

My dear Gail - my heart goes out to you going through all that and the terrible pain.  In spite of all, you are able to keep your sense of humor - bless you!

The rat has a very long rat tail - no fur on it!

FH, would the squirrels eat that cracked corn?  I am spending $6/week on sunflower seeds... :( I really don't care if the rat likes it

sad sack (cartoon from my era)

Absolutely Liz, but not as much as sunflower seeds. When I was feeding birds years back I stopped the sunflower seeds and switched to mixed bird seeds. The birds stopped coming for about 3 weeks and then slowly started coming back. When I switched to cracked corn I only had 1/3 my birds return so I wound up mixing the cracked corn with the mixed bird seed.

sack full

Thanks, FH, but I also feed the squirrels, the rat :( as well as the birds.  I have been doing this for over 7 yrs so I guess I'll stick to the sunflower seeds!

I have beautiful finches as well as the red-winged blackbird and cardinals and one gorgeous woodpecker!  I would hate to lose any of them!

(Funny - down here they call pigeons doves and crows ravens...)

BTW, I have an osprey nest that I can see from my kitchen window - I love those birds!

full disclosure

A crow and a raven are two different birds. Although they look the same a raven is much larger. There are no Ravens that live in Florida.

Pidgeon and doves are indirectly related abut are two different families. Both families have multiple members in Florida.

answer questionable

Yep, the Bears were great in 1985 - still have the "Superbowl Shuffle" tape!

I have been boycotting the NFL and didn't see a game all last year - and probably won't this year - just my personal opinion - no offense intended!

I have not been to see the Mouse in forever and probably will not again - I have back issues and Fibromyalgia, so it is difficult to walk for even a short period of time :(

Shopping addiction

I don't watch football much anymore. I've never been to a college/NFL game. The last pro baseball game I've been to was when Tug McGraw was still pitching!

addiction addressed

Last college football game I saw was in the early 60's - Purdue/Notre Dame  -  YIKES !

Will never miss a Cubs' game, tho - have been a fan since I was 6 - My dad taught me!  Last Bears' game I went to it was 18 degrees and they were still playing at Wrigley!  I spent the 2nd half in the car trying to get warm

How is everyone doing this morning?
