Anxiety rules
Yesterday it was my 30 year old daughter and my 18 year old minivan.
On Tuesday, my daughter had a physical, wherein a lump was found in her breast. She went to an imaging center today, and a doctor was present to interpret the results. Just normal tissue -- whew!
The minivan needs tires: one has a bulge, another goes flat in a few days. But a set of tires costs more than the car is worth. It has a broken wiper motor, a stuck window, an oil leak, a shot suspension, and on the way to the tire shop, the turn signal instrument light goes out. Anything could break down next week. We didn't get the tires. I'm ready for a new car.
Yuck.

life varies
As I understand it, Murphy's law had to do with industrial design: basically "If there's a wrong way to do something, someone's going to do it that way." It should be a maxim for any user interface, airplane, etc. designer.
My understanding is limited, though. Wikipedia has a lot more to say on the matter:

Has the pilot arrive to pick up Max yet Liz? He was going to get burgers on the way and I have his Friday night all ready for him.

There are many conditions like this. Cold back of hand, back of leg, etc. Tingling in these areas or other unusual feeling. They are usually associated with a condition called polyneuropathy.
"Polyneuropathy is any illness that attacks numerous nerves in the body, sometimes causing weakness and/or pain. It tends to be a systemic problem that affects more than one nerve group at a time. Polyneuropathies are relatively symmetric, often affecting sensory, motor, and vasomotor fibers simultaneously." Mayo Clinic Site.
Basically the external nerves of the body misbehave. This can be due to old age, nerve damage, brain injury, etc. but most commonly just simply develops out of the blue and unless associated with pain may not need treating. My wife has several types of polyneuropathy due to trauma from her back surgeries. Cold feeling on the top of her left foot and back pf left calf. Tingling on the back of her right upper arm and others.
The strange conditions are more likely to occur in areas lacking soft tissue and not as many nerves such as the back of arm. legs, hands, feet, etc.
