Liz, sorry for that computer of yours. I know nothing about electronics. As for the tablet, my daughter thought me a bit. It's enough for what I do. Under 200$.

Thanks, Carleeta, but I'll talk to my son first - he's in Seattle but worked for Microsoft for 10yrs.
If he can't help me, there is a local "geek shop" here that I could have look at it to see if it is worth fixing. It's 5 years old.
