evil deed
"Just for a moment I stood there in silence,
Shocked by the foul evil deed I had done."
From El Paso by Marty Robbins-- released October 26, 1959 on the Album Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs.
Evil is used twice in the song as is wicked.
This is a spectacularly visual song with cinematic sweeping vistas, the madness of youthful love, and the insanity of horrific and spontaneous violence! It's an epic story rendered in Technicolor images! It's a great piece of art!
The young cowboy says Felina is "wicked and evil while casting her spell." He knows where this is going, and he's obliquely aware that he's part of this unstoppable disaster from the beginning.
He knows she's not worthy of his love, yet in death he declares this:
"Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
One little kiss and Felina, good-bye."
"Two loving arms. . ."
I remember feeling the kind of love that transcended character-- that innocence. I'm glad it's gone.

Thank you for asking Liz-- I'm okay too! I had a stretch of melancholy this week that appeared right on time to interrupt some tedious chores. But I think I've finally learned not to fight it; I can work through the down days but I find that my bandwidth of thought narrows down to a dribble of self-criticism. Then I need to take a long walk.
It's gone now and the horizon is brighter-- possibility takes flight like starlings at dawn above an English meadow.

time out
I'm sorry for your experience, TM, but certainly understand it. Happy to hear that all is better and your comment reminded me of the murmurations I have only seen on videos - they are astounding!
Take care all - will be waiting for your results, FH.
Morning, Gail!

when my thyroid tests came back (TSH, T3 and T4) out of range at my last physical I requested a 24 hour urine iodine test. I had suspected that my diet may be low on iodine. MUCH to my surprise the iodine test came back with iodine excess. Normal is 90 to 500 and mine was 1250!!! I had contrast ct and 2 barium enemas (all 3 used iodine) back 3 to 5 months ago but the drs said that was too long ago to effect my current levels. That just leaves dietary. Once again I will be changing my diet and then retest in a few weeks. This definitely explains my funky thyroid tests.
I also found out that Zoloft bonds to iodine. This shouldn't effect my results though.
If it isn't one thing it is two more. Urgg
