tonight show

The Tonight Show began in 1954 on NBC and has been broadcast from Rockefeller Centre in New York City ever since. In chronological order, the hosts of the Tonight Show are as follows: Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, and Jimmy Fallon.

show enjoyed

I loved Steve Allen!  Of course I was a real Johnny Carson and Jay Leno fan as well...  Feel it's really gone downhill since!

Is all this info really stored in your brain, TM? :P

enjoyed him

Johnny Carson was my favourite; I really enjoyed him. A small amount of anything is in my head Liz; I do a quick search of items. If I cut-and-paste something I add the footnote 'wiki', if I paraphrase it I don't.

My brain used to be something like a cross between a Museum and a Library; now it's a Mini-Storage facility with a plastic roll-up door and a Walmart 5-dollar lock on it.

lol

Tonight lengthens

As do most nights for those going through the withdrawal.

lengthens time

Sometimes I feel that all of this just lengthens time spent experiencing some type of disorder...

There was the sleep problem, but now it seems time for the sadness and hopelessness to be back - I wonder if it will ever end!

One good thing - my younger son is coming for a short visit in a couple of weeks (think he is worried that I am losing it) but haven't seen him for 6 months, so I'm looking forward to seeing him - alone!!!

TM, you crack me up - I would be happy with that storage facility and the plastic roll up door! :)

Some how TFL you have to find some hobby you enjoy and focus on that. Maybe bridge, men, knotting....did I say men?

enjoyed little

I have enjoyed little of life since I came off the crap.  And FH, there isn't a man within 100 miles that is worth 2 cents!

My main hobbies are watching Chicago sports on TV.  I think you meant knitting, and I did that almost 50 years ago but arthritis in my hands makes those things difficult.

BTW, how was your new Dr. yesterday?  Is he/she trainable??

little group

"Sometimes I feel that all of this just lengthens time spent experiencing some type of disorder..."  Liz.

I think you've hit upon something there Liz, and I think it's something that may not be well understood outside our little group. It's this: perhaps life is disorder, and any attempt to make it sit still, march to this or that tune, behave, obey, be nice, or be predictable is a lot like herding cats.

Once someone has been through the anti-depressant experience, he or she is hyper-aware of the chaos that is otherwise natural. Perhaps we really do need to seek to identify the tiny gold nuggets within each shovelful of life's gravel, and forget about the rest.

group misery

That is it Liz!! Take up knot tieing!! Maybe knot!!!   lol Oh that was a bad joke!!

The new dr (a he) seemed quite sensible and practical. The one comment he made to me was that he had a strong dislike of psychiatrists and has always found that they have no idea what they are doing. I told him I had already learned that lesson. Overall I believe  a winner. I had done my homework though, I had read all the online reviews of most of the pcp in my area before I chose this one.

TM

"perhaps life is disorder"

What a beautifully simple way to put the Second Law of entropy!! You are dead on. Entropy - the state of continuing disorder. Left without any outside effort the natural world (including our health) is in entropy.

However, in your last sentence you talk about the "gold nuggets within each shovel full of life's gravel". The word gravel wasn't the first word I would have thought of....

The dead cat's remains were on the highway.

Sorry. That is what popped into my head. First of all you can tell my head is a little warped and second you can tell I am not a cat person.  lol

Hi Liz!!    Just checking the site one last time for the day. A big hug and hope all is well with you.

On her way out the door one of the fellas patted her on the butt and she swung around and let fly with a stiff left hook and cold-cocked him on the doorstep!

The man sat up on the doorstep, dazed, and rubbing his jaw. He watched the woman slam the car door and drive away. He flipped her the bird and shouted, "Up yours!"

yours truly

By the way TFL, be ready for an upsurge in your cubbies. St. Louis is going to go into a skid. They just placed 20 games straight, ne day off and now are in the middle of a 16 game marathon. In the last 6 games 4 went extra innings and one Cardinal went to the hospital with exhaustion and dehydration. The also lost the best pitcher for the season. The manager, Matheny, refuses to place his regulars each day because it is just too hard on them so he is trying to rest two of them each day. Your cubbies could make up some ground.

truly sorry

I am truly sorry to hear that, FH.  I feel sorry for those players, but then that is why they make the big bucks!  I noticed that we have been picking up a game here and there and are not playing today.  Maybe the over 100 year drought will end after all!  (Yeah, right!)

My son in San Diego is going to the Blackhawks game in Anaheim tomorrow night and the Cubs/Padres game on Thursday night - rough life he lives....    his condo is 2 blocks from Petco Park in San Diego!

Good grief, FH - I am not blaming you for no action on here! I think that we have lost some of our member who used to give us some good laughs!

Well, Blackhawks on at 8 EDT on NBC tonite, and Cubbies not on until 1010pm due to being in AZ.  Can't wait til they get back home!  If Blackhawks can't win tonite, they're in big trouble... :(

I have been on Cymbalta for almost 5 yrs and things were ok until early last year.
I noticed that my mood swings, and feelings of unworthiness were not only coming but my husband was telling me that I seemed to be getting more forgetful. That scared me! I didn't want to up the dose especially since I hadn't planned on staying on it even from the very beginning; but we all know how hard this S*** is to just decide not to take it anymore!!! So here I am!

The Monarch Butterfly (Danaus Plexippus), with care and grace, lays its eggs one-at-a-time under the tender young leaf of a milkweed plant.
