eating lotus

They were all smiling and eating lotus blossoms.

In Greek Mythology the lotus-eaters were a race of people living on an island near North Africa dominated by lotus plants. The lotus fruits and flowers were the primary food on the island and were narcotic; this caused the people to sleep in peaceful apathy. Sounds lovely!

Lotus flower

Begins in the soil but rises above the water in brilliance!

Flower Power

Flower Power originated in Berkeley California in the 1960's as a symbolic action of protest against the Vietnam War. In his November 1965 essay titled How to Make a March/Spectacle, poet Allen Ginsberg advocated that protesters should be provided with "masses of flowers" to hand out to policemen, press, politicians and spectators. wiki

power returning

I think I have my power returning...started feeling better yesterday afternoon but didn't eat much of anything yesterday except soup and frozen yogurt!

That dinner sounded wonderful, Cse, but don't know that I could have handled it!

back again

I thought I was better and had Chinese wonton soup and a spring roll for lunch.  Bad idea!!

I seem to have the pain back again - guess it'll be more frozen yogurt.  I wonder when I can eat normally again.

too funny

Hi Liz!

Yes it's the middle of the night, and here's my story (and I'm sticking to it): I was hooked on psychiatric drugs for a few years and now my internal clock is all screwed up and sometimes I'm up all night!

funny story

So sorry that you are still plagued with that, TM, and that is no funny story

I have broken down and am now taking Trazodone (used to take this a couple of years ago) to help the sleep problem.  I can now sleep 7-8 hours without waking up and am feeling much better for that!

(another one of those Rx drugs that help my quality of life!  ;)

story line

The movie was all action and no storyline.

The sleep is critical for repair and balance. I need to address it too; good to hear you're getting a decent sleep.

dress rehearsal

We had a dress rehearsal for our off-the-wall rendition of Aristophanes's Lysistrata. It's a comedy that tells the story of the women of Greece who go on a sex-strike until their men put an end to the Peloponnesian War (between Athens and Sparta). During rehearsal there were several costume malfunctions where the gigantic phalluses were being trodden upon and getting caught in doorways; therefore, some had to be shortened.

Perhaps women should strike in this manner to get bills passed in Congress!
