Hello Everyone,

Can someone here tell me how much longer should I continue tapering off cymbalta.

I've been removing pellets from my 20mg capsule.  For the past 4 days, I've only take 16 pellets a day (20 mg capsules contain 190 pellets) The method was recommended from my docter.  Besides the occasion brain zaps, I've been fine.

Thanks for this group.  I getting a lot of information.

Clearglass :)

Hello clearglass, welcome! I'm not the one to help you with this, as I came off cold turkey....your approach is far more sensible, but I didn't have a choice.....there are several others here who are using the bead counting method....and I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

In the meantime, I suggest you read what's already been posted about bead counting....lots of good info and suggestions...

I commend you for your decision to get off this nasty drug! And how lucky you are to have a doctor who supports you and actually seems to understand how critical it is to wean off slowly!

Clearglass..Welcome to the forum..So you are bead counting? This is wonderful. There are and have been many members here on this forum who have used this method and found it to be the easier route to take in minimizing the withdrawals.

In my opinion I would say to stay with the removal of bead counting. Second, I'm not certain if the removal of 16 is to many each day. I think it should be much less. Although I am not one to answer this due to I didn't bead count.
FishingHat, had abundance of knowledge in this area, and he will be chiming in on your post soon to help answer this question for you.

Others will soon be popping in and responding to you question. .

Equuswoman will soon share her experience as to her bead counting by removing only one bead a day.

We are all here to help you through your brave decision to quit cymbalta.

Good Luck...

Thanks you for the support FiveNotions and Carleeta.

I should clarify, right now I'm down taking the capsule with only 16 beads, so I think its about 2 mgs per day. I'm not sure if I should stop now. I'll continue to read the post.  I've found very good information so far.

Clearglass. .Oh, what I believe you are saying is that you only have 16 beads left inside your capsules correct?

Honestly, Fishinghat does have more knowledge in bead counting and he will be chiming in soon to extend his knowledge in this area.

Hold on tight:)

Sorry clearglass, I have been tied up. It is actually the last few beads that can be the biggest problem. As well as you have done I think you are going to come out OK. I don't know how many beads you are removing a day but just stay on that routine. IF the withdrawal gets worse then just go back up a few beads, stabalize and then start dropping at a slower rate. But do not stop now. Like I say those last few beads can be the worse.Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you fishinghat.

I have noticed my head getting hot if I don't take the beads at the right time.  After I take them, I'm fine ia a few minutes. I've been on Cymbalta for almost 2 years; roller coaster of doses.  I'm glad I've come this far.

A little tip: Dump the beads into a pill bottle, use a tiny measuring spoon (bought from Amazon) to put the beads back in the capsule.

For I while I was count up to 176 beads, removing them from the capsule

I will keep the community posted.

Thanks again.
