    I want my life back!

Posted 23 August 2014 - 12:10 PM

Hi all! I sorta' "fell off the forum" the past 2-3  days ... I got so focused on "The Search" (job) that I didn't even realize I haven't been checking in here to visit with my friends!

My positive is that it's a rainy cloudy day here, and I'm positively about to give up trying to be active and productive, and take a nap with my kitties ... I'd intended to hop out of bed and head out to visit my friend in the nursing home, but my engine just isn't kicking into gear .. so, I'll see how I feel after a couple hours of napping ... if I'm up to it, I'll head out later to help him eat dinner and get ready for bed....

(Positively nothing positive to report about finding a job, except that I'm positively an expert at looking for one :P)

I've got lots of reading and posting to catch up on, especially for our newest member, ItsNotRight .... so, I'll get some afternoon ZZZzzzz's and be back ready for action!

FiveNotions, that is a positive...lol lol lol.  You are catching up on much needed rest.  Sounds great to me, and sounds like you are listening to your body and what your body is telling you....rest...zzzzzzzzz.  That's positive, and so happy you are listening to what you need.  :)

That's our Carleeta!! :D Always ready to go and to help, regardless of how you feel - you are a marvel, my friend!

My positive already today is that the first thing I saw when I looked out my kitchen window this morning was my pair of Cardinals!  Not much later,  saw Mr. Cardinal again...  They were telling me things are looking up!

This is going to be a much better day - and I have been able to sleep the past 3 nites!!! :)

TryinginFl....yipeeeee, you have seen more cardinals in the past two days....Great....They are watching over you, and this is wonderful that you noticed them.  Things should be looking up, especially when they have sent you their message with their presence.  I'm glad you've been able to sleep these past three nights.  That is a positive in itself....yipeeee to you.....

Yup, in home from the golfing luncheon...I admit I was the youngest one there.  What a lift for my self esteem...lol lol lol.  If I was looking for a husband I was in the right place at the right time... Mostly men....lol lol lol.  Had a wonderful meal and enjoyed chatting with all these wonderful golfers today.  Everyone there was positive and having a good time and all in a good mood.  They really displayed great sportsmanship.  I admire this trait when it comes to sports.  At the end of this luncheon I was hand gift wrapped presents, for which didn't hit me at first, until I opened the first one...lol lol lol.  They were grandmother gifts....lol lol lol.. Coffee cups, wine glasses, allbums, and picture frames.  lol lol lol.  I was positively surprised...and love all my gifts...

I'm positively exhausted from the luncheon, Although, I could not resist stopping at the farmer's stand on the way home and purchasing my all time favorite. Another rope of garlic to hang in my kitchen to dry and use this winter.....Sounds odd, although it's truly a favorite of mine.  And on the positive side of this....garlic keeps the evil away.... That's an odd Italian belief and I'll keep it.....lol lol lol.  Don't want to take any chances...lol lol lol

Hello All,

I miss the forum and I'm so glad to see all the positive posts. :)

Grandma Carleeta, Congratulations!!!

TryinginFl, I so understand split family functions, but wedding are one of the great family functions.

Fishinghat, ThisMoment and Five Notions- always good to hear what you're doing.

brzghoff, Nice to meet you and you're very lucky to have a hubby who's supportive,  I don't know what I would have done without mine.

Our family hasn't had a good summer, so I haven't post.  Shortly after July 4th, we found out our Dad has cancer and he is going through so much.  The positive is, he is really fighting and he's been so strong; still trying to make sure everyone is doing okay.  He's a wonderful person.

It's good to know wonderful people. Like those on our forum.

I will try to post more.  Have a good rest of the weekend.

Five Months and no more side effects!!!

Thank you, Carleeta!  Yes, the Cardinals are there for me...

Regarding the garlic - my grandfather (from Sweden) used to tell me that his grandmother kept garlic on the doorknob of the front door to keep out the evil spirits - thought you might enjoy hearing that!  (Guess there must be something to that old "garlic keeps out vampires" thing!!)

Happy to meet you too Clearglass!

glad to hear that at five months you don't have anymore side effects, gosh that's inspiring given the past couple days that i have had. that is my positive, to have that kind of hope from your experience. i realize we are all different but wow! i'm at 3 1/2 months off. how long were you on the C to begin with?

I am so sorry to learn about your father i can't imagine how difficult that must be. give him big hugs and hold him tight as best you can. as you well know, there is suport here - sounds like you have it at home as well.

brzghoff....Thank you.  Grandma life is going to surely be different, although full of love.....lol lol lol

Well I'm positively off to the mountains today with my niece.  She is picking me up and we are going to cook some Italian summer food, if there is such a thing...lol lol lol.  All cold dishes from fresh vegetables in the garden.  she wants to get in one more beautiful swim before we say goodbye to summer and the hot days.  I won't be going in because of my back, although I'll get some good footage in the mountains and see if the leaves are changing up there.  It hit 80 today so far and it should be in the low 70's there.  I'm positively going to get myself out of the house...lol lol lol.  These back pains are not going away...lol

I am almost afraid to post this "positive" for fear of jinxing myself, but....

I have only taken my prescribed amount of Alprazolam today and as of now (at least!) I have had no anxiety :D   This is a first and I am hoping it will continue.

Think my Cardinals were working for me ;)

Thank you all for putting up with my ranting since I have returned - Luv ya' all!!! :D

Definitely a positive TFL! I think you're settling in to being back home, safe and sound! Hey, you didn't tell us (if u did and I missed it, sorry) how your pooches reacted to having Mommy home .... were they beside themselves with joy?

My positive for the day is that I dragged my tired ass (and everything attached to it) out to see my friend in the nursing home. And, he was relatively "awake" for about two hours, and wanted me to read to him ....first we did the daily Scripture readings, then his current interest ...  a while back he started asking me to find something about Columbus, Magellan and the other early ocean explorers... I have a copy of Daniel Boorstin's book "The Discoverers" that was just the thing ... today we read about Balboa ... amazing ... 101 yrs old, definitely "fading/failing" and yet when he's "with it" he's more with it than I am :P

Hey FN...

Fur babies went nuts when I picked them up and my "Alpha" Terrier woke me up every 2 hrs that first nite - to go out!  Must have been part of a nervous check to make sure I was still there!  He has mental problems too...

Amazing that your friend is so interested in the world explorers at this stage of his life - maybe it was something he always had an interest in and never had the time to study - wonderful that you can read to him.

Sure you need to settle in and rest now...

So good to hear from you!

Well, TFL, it is wonderful that I can read to him .... because just a couple of months ago I reported here that my cognitive issues were so bad that I wasn't able to read out loud to him any more ... I couldn't pronounce simple words, couldn't remember / identify / understand what I was reading, couldn't read line-by-line, kept losing my place ... that was so freaking scary ...

There's proof positive that slowly, so slowly, the cognitive functions can come back ... it was so gradual that I hadn't realized all of this until just now, when you made the comment ...

FiveNotions....absolutely, I went up in the Adirondacks today.  Surprising the leaves had not started to turn and it felt just like a summer day.  It finally hit in the 80's today and a great day for a swim (not me though due to my back pain).  It was absolutely gorgeous up there...Although I did need to get back into civilization....lol lol lol.  Sorry if this makes you homesick, I don't intend for it to come off this way.  I usually go up one a week or once every two weeks.

Positively home from the mountains...Today was beautiful outside and warm (unusual, due to such a cool summer).  We cooked for about 2 hours and my niece's boyfriend had invited his friends to stop by and sure enough I was in aweee at their beautiful Harley Davidson's bikes.  lol lol lol.  I've liked bikes all my life, just admiring them and those courageous to ride.  I myself do not like to ride them or even get on one....lol lol  lol.  My niece nor her boyfriend own one so this was quite a thrill for me today...lol lol lol.  The sounds of 6 bikes starting at the same time were amazing....  They owner came into the house before leaving and asked if I wanted to go outside for their departure..lol lol lol.  They knew I would get excited over this and they were so proud to start their bikes and watch my reaction...lol lol lol.  Great bunch of courageous individuals....lol lol  lol.  Needless to say, today was exceptionally positive.....

Hey all!   As a self-proclaimed Charter Member of the Old Fart's Club, I want to share a positive!

(any who would like to join this club are welcome!)

While I was on my trip I wasn't drinking any of my ACV tonics....

Now that I am home and am back on the tonic for about a week and a half, I have noticed that my left foot (the worst one with the osteoarthritis) is slowing beginning to feel better!  Of course, I have been trying to stay off my feet as much as possible as well.  Man, I swear by that stuff - it really helps!!  :)

Apple Cider Vinegar tonics do work well for your TryinginFl.  This trip had you going In all different emotions, I can see why you forgot about ACV.  I personally don't use it as a cocktail, although It's in my salad daily, especially in summer when we use Iceberg lettuce.  I've always used vinegar, red, white, and apple. in my daily diet with my salad, guess it must be working for me that way.  I'm so happy you realized you hadn't taken it and jumped right back into it.  Then again, when we do make meat with out dishes and especially pork. I made a dipping sauce of fresh garlic, vinegar, and fresh black pepper to dip the pieces of pork into.  We do dip our pork rinds in this dipping sauce.  Of course, I'm also the one who adds fresh crushed pepper to everything also..lol lol lol lol.   Old timers (as we call the old old Italians...lol lol) swear the red crushed pepper kills all germs in your body...lol lol   who know, its probably true....lol lol lol.

What's important is that you started your ACV tonics again....yipeeeeeee

Glad to hear the ACV is working for you. George Carlin did a great couple of minutes on Old Farts, which he re-named in the piece. You can google it on YouTube (it's a little coarse).

Take care.

Positively need to get outside on this beautiful day....Went to the grocery market and picked up everything I didn't need immediately...lol lol lol.  Forget the napkins which I did need....lol lol lol.   Decided to go to the farmers stand and get some pole beans, red onion, yellow potatoes, zucchini and some eggplants.  Then decided to stop at another store and found the most beautiful fall decoration which I put on my main door entrance.  Bought another one, different style, and just put it up on my outside balcony.....yipeeeee.  Looks so beautiful.  Didn't take any summer decorations, plants, and flowers off yet, as I will do this gradually as more of the fall approaches...... Getting the wonderful fall feeling which I simply love fall colors.  Mums will be purchased in a week or so to replace the herbs..... I like this gradual process and all that comes with it......lol lol lol
