    I want my life back!

Posted 18 July 2014 - 10:26 PM

Hello, signing on to post my positive for today .... met a friend for a picnic down along the Potomac River waterfront... (last Friday it was a picnic along the Anacostia Riverfront, along with an oldies concert)... this evening it was simply sitting in our fold-up portable lounge chairs, watching the river and the dinner cruise ships and sailboats ... we also had a view straight across the river to the military air base where the Marine helicopters used to carry the president are kept ... and, we got a rare treat ... saw the three of them take off, in formation ... apparently heading over to the White House to pick him up, or possible some other "VIP" ... whichever one that carries the president is always Marine 1... the other two are "decoys" ... just before they took off, a US Coast Guard gun boat came roaring up the river from their base down in Alexandria VA... they took up position in the middle of the river, right between where we were sitting and the marine copter base on the other side ... that's what tipped us off that the copters were about to head out ... once they were out of sight, the Coast Guard dudes roared back down south to Alexandria ...

We stayed until after dark... watched all the lights come on in the city, the monuments, etc... perfect weather, soft breeze, not too hot not too cold ...

Wish you all could have been there with me to enjoy a lovely evening!

FiveNoions, what chills ran over my body, reading your positive. I wish I was there to experience this phenomenal event.  Just the way to expressed all this in detail, I felt I was there enjoying this with you.....wow...amazing.

Very nice to know its the Marines Chopper's which carry the president.  I always wondered which one he was in... About 2 months ago the President landed  at Griffis Air Force Base in Air Force One. and got into one of six choppers to get to the Baseball Hall of fame in Cooperstown, New York.  Via television I watched him land In Air Force One and take off in one of the choppers...Went out on my balcony knowing these choppers would be passing over to their way to Cooperstown, and shot beautiful pictures of the six chopper formation, all the time wondering which one our President was in.  I had chills then and I chills today reading your post and learning he always gets in the Marine Chopper.  This was a positive today for me learning something new....

How excited I am for you and experiencing such a positive and exciting day.....yippppeee

Ah, Grifiss Air Force Base ... know that place well, too! Have a second cousin who's in the Air National Guard stationed out of there ...

To add to my story from last night ... I checked the prez' daily schedule for yesterday, and yep ... he was scheduled to fly to Camp David yesterday at 5:40 pm ... he's notorious for being late for everything (including all his tv appearances, press conferences, state dinners and even Medal of Honor Award ceremonies at the WH) ... so yesterday was no different... the choppers didn't leave their base until 6:15 pm ... we could hear them with rotors/engines running on the ground all the way across the river ... the USCG gun boat arrived at 6 pm, so we knew something was about to happen ... and, I mis-stated that all three choppers came back to base ... just two of them did .. the third, designated Marine 1, had to stay at Camp D ...

I figure Michelle must have been pissed at him about something and banished him to Camp D... he hates it there because there's no "good golf" ... apparently the short course that Robert Trent Jones designed for Eisenhower isn't good enuf for him... and mrs o and the first daughter won't go there because she says it's "too rustic and unsophisticated" ... (another little treat about living in DC and having once been part of the "K St/Capitol Hill crowd is juicy gossip.. tee hee)

FN...

What a wonderful post - wish I had been there!  I am happy that you get out to do some wonderful things :)

My positive for today is that I saw my pair of cardinals almost first thing this morning - interesting, as I was having some very anxious thoughts at the time!

They lifted my mood and I hope I can keep the feeling today.

I have been feeling very down lately and continue to hope that it will fade in time...

TFL, gee, I'm sorry you've been having a down few days ... can you "pin it" on anything in particular, or is it more along the lines of the "I've been run over by the crapalta dump truck and it just backed up and hit me again" thing?

Hang in there ... remember the message that your cardinals are bringing you!

Hello Liz, yes, cardinals. I really believe that they do bring a message. As soon as I hear one whisling, a smile pops up in my face.

Happy that you have those messengers around. There is something spiritual about those birds. You and I respond in the same way when they are around. Mood lift, smile. Love them.

Hi TryinginFL

I hope you're feeling better soon.  I also hope the cardinals visit every morning.

I remember when my grandmother was very ill, I would sit on the sun porch every morning and this bird would come sit on the tree next to the house every morning. It made me feel like something special was there with me.  I still remember the bird and call it 'Grandms's bird.'

Thinking of you and all our friends on the forum.

Clearglass

Just arrived home from the vegetable and fruit stand. Bought some delicious pole beans, red onions, and home grown tomatoes. Already quickly boiled the pole beans, drained them, and tossed them in fresh garlic, olive oil, a bit of oregano, salt and pepper and tossed in the frig for any company that comes by. Fresh Italian tomato and red onion salad also made and tossed in the frig. Made some fresh homemade bread this morning, (by hand no bread machine...lol).. Yes, washing the floors with my swifer is much easier than making home made bread...lol lol lol...... Floors washed yesterday morning anyway...lol lol. It's been quite a positive start today.....Ill keep going too....lol lol lol

Tryinginfl. ..My energy level was not always there...I've learned through therapy how to change my anxious negativity to keep busy doing something and eventually I can do more and more...Our Italian culture is based on learning how to cook at a very young age..This is how we share our love. ..Therefore, it's easy to cook.. and preparing things early in the day, in the summer, makes for a frig full in two to three days....So keeping busy for something of a positive outcome is very rewarding and keeping my mind focused and not thinking of the negatives....I do have a protein shake every morning..instead of coffee which tends to make me jittery and keeps me away from the quick highs and devastating lows.. (that's just my system)...lol lol...My mom could drink regular coffee before bedtime and go right to sleep..lol lol...not me or my dad...My energy level is great in the am...not pm...

TryinginFl. ..I just do things because of a wise aunt's words..."A body in motion, stays in motion"...It's not easy, I just do it. ..Infact, my niece was going to pick me up today to spend a day in the mountains, and my stomach was off so I told her I would go next week...U Just wanted to be close to home and productive...thats all...Like I said, it's not easy I just do it and by pm I'm filled with love in my heart...:)

A positive day indeed...yipeeeeee! Didn't have company over today, although my male cousin isn't feeling well and having difficulty walking...So then, I decided to bring the food, and bread I made, along with a bottle of wine to their home...Yipeeeeee. ..I made their day..lol lol...no one felt like cooking and poof; they had fresh light salads, bread and wine...It was a feast they had been thinking about...lol lol...They were so happy and enjoyed today so much, we have comitted to doing this every Sunday. ..They are wonderful individuals and deserve to be treated as they are always treating others with their loving and giving hearts...yipeeeeee!

"I just do things because of a wise aunt's words..."A body in motion, stays in motion".

Your wise aunt is quoting an equally wise fellow, Isaac Newton; it's part of the first law of motion, from The Three Laws of Motion. The body will stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force- like the phone rings, a text message comes in, or a UFO puts down on the veranda.

The Three Laws of Motion are part of the larger work titled 'Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematicia', published in 1687. I have a friend who maintains that all Newtonian laws are based on sex! In support of her thesis she quotes from Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation- any two bodies attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

That means size matters, and the closer the bodies get the greater the attraction! I love science!

Thismonent.  lol lol...yes my Aunt quoted this great mathematician.  She was a great mathematician as, well...lol lol..  Im sure this is the reason she quoted him so much.  She was always saying this and balanced herself very well everyday.  She would get up early and do most things by herself, keep herself very busy, and very well dressed.  It just sticks in my mind, how she used those words daily while bringing up her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  God rest her sole.  We just lost  her in March of this year...

The sex part of these laws are amazing, and I know my Aunt exercised regularly right into her 80's.  This is so interested in relation to her mind and body.  Wow...Thank you for the extras, Thismoment.....

11:47 pm. Knowing its positively July and having such beautiful nice temperature days; I enjoy sitting on my living room balcony and just sipping a glass of refreshing mint infused water. It has a peaceful and awakening feeling. I absolutely have to go and take my back x-rays today at 5pm... I'm absolutely going whether I want to back out or not...lol lol. Of course, I will not be driving myself (distance to far for me to drive just yet), my son will pick me up at 4:20 to drive me there and drive me back. I am very anxious about this, although positively going... :)

Carleeta....

My younger son is getting married in Hawaii on Aug 8.  I am leaving Aug 2 to stay with my other son in Seattle for a few days and then we will fly over there together.  This is a really long trip and I must say that I am not looking forward to it!  I lived on Maui in the '80's so going to Hawaii is not such a fun thing for me - brings back memories of my horrible last marriage - that's why I have been divorced for over 25 yrs!

I will be gone for almost 2 weeks and am looking forward to it all being over! I am going because I love my son and his fiancĂ©.

I wish I could have lost another 20 lbs before now, but it is what it is - a little over 10 lbs has been the best so far... :(

Completed my series of neck and back x rays yesterday...yippeeee they are done.  Its weird how much pain I was feeling when I had to take the x rays.  I know x rays don't hurt, although my body was really hurting.  It seemed as though it flared up out of no where again.  I must have done something again to make it worse.  Oh well we will find out what's going on.  The negative part of this is my anxiety level is very high right now...lol lol.  Oh well it time to be patient....lol lol.   Easier said than done.  Ill just start making the list of invites for which I will be giving the Christening for my grandson about a month after he is born.  We have about a month to go before his birth and I am starting to become a very excited grandma...yipeeeee......
