11:38 am. Beautiful morning outside. Sun shinning and temps in the 80's.. my kind of day.. lol My positives for the morning are I was able to reach Contractor Dave for my son, who has been trying to reach him for 2 months...lol lol. Ill be off the the post office and being anxious about the drive there and waiting in line, I definitely and positively going to give it a try. The worse that can happen is, Ill turn the car around and come home. Of, course I just thought about if I leave now, I might just encounter a large wait line...lol lol.. Oh well, its only a line....lol lol

Great critter and birdy descriptions, BethHF... love the squirrel/bat image ... those little guys are real food entrepreneurs!

As for your exchange with the wage slave at your doc's office ... sorry it went sideways, and then totally south like it did ... many of these issues may be attributed to the new regulations related to obamacare .... it's putting huge pressure on docs in private practice, and is breaking the ER process entirely ... my thought would be to wait a bit, and call the gal back ... apologize and ask her to forgive you ... explain that you're sure she's just as frustrated with all this red tape as you, and you "lost it" at the "system", she was just in your line of fire .... ask if you can just start the conversation fresh, and get things sorted out ...

As for being treated as a new patient even tho' you're not .. I'm pretty sure that's due to obamacare/Medicaid ... if a certain period of time elapses between visits, a patient stops being an ongoing patient and becomes a new patient ... and, a lot of docs have now started having new patients meet first with PAs... it saves the doc time and money ...

You need to get the meds for the anxiety, so do the best with what you can get ... it sucks, yes, but we gotta' work with what we've got available to us ...

As for expiration on benzos, I don't have a clue... but I did find this discussion about using 5 yr old clonazepam on the crazymeds.com forum.... again, can't vouch for veracity ... you could also call your pharmacist ...

2:05 pm  Just arrived back home and successfully made it to the post office and then a nice stop at the grocery store.  To my surprise, l was absolutely positively overjoyed at the fact the post office was not packed...yipeeeee  So naturally I went to the grocery store with a smile on my face..lol lol.  As I was shopping for my Almond Milk it just so happened the representative from Hood products was there and showed me the new Almond Coconut Milk, sure enough I was sold..lol lol.  then he surprised me and handed me three free booklets with recipes for smoothies, muffins, and cakes made with the Almond Milk...lol lol...OMG it was my lucky day I told him..

What a positively lovely surprise.  When I arrived home I immediately had a bowl of cereal with the coconut Almond Milk and it was absolutively, positively, delicious. Yummy Yummy and yippeeeee!

I remember when I first came on this forum one of my first positives was washing my face and brushing my teeth. Politively, hang in there everyone because each day is a surprise and you will soon find better days than bad ones. I still have my bad ones, and my bad moments, and will just have to live with anxiety like I did prior to Cymbalta and antidepressents. I wish you all good days ahead.. :)

Carleeta, it's wonderful that you're managing to cope with all of that. May I ask you if you take anything for your anxiety or is it manageable as opposed to debilitating ?.
I was coping with good & bad days up until a couple of weeks ago but mostly just bad days now ... Lol

Keep your positives coming ..:-)

Gail,

I'm sorry to hear that the anxiety seems to be back in full force.  I understand well the feeling good for quite a while and then - WHAM!  It all seems to start again :(

In my case, I feel that my anxiety is being created by my upcoming trip - I do, however, still feel very much alone and sad most of the time.

I do manage to get my errands run, laundry done and all the mundane necessary things.  I am still looking forward to feeling true happiness and joy once again.

We are in this together, my friend

Keep your positives coming ..:-)Wagtail, I have been able to manage my anxiety with listening to my psychologist and following exactly what he feels is right for me and the type of anxiety I have. I do have valium if I need it, although I take them only if absolutely necessary, which is not often at all. I go months and months without one. I am happy to be back also. Anxiety conditions take a long time to control, although with constant therapy and following exactly what your therapist has prescribed and not getting side tracked will make for life of coping with anxiety. Hope this helps.. :)

TryinginFL I too know how you are feeling with the upcoming trip. Try and visualize daily of something which brings a smile to your face. As you do this, place your right hand on your heart and breathe in saying relax, then breathe out saying relax. Seven minutes is all you need to do this. I usually visualize of my son as a baby placing his little hand on my face touching it. I call this my heart. When I was on the plane or sitting in the airport I would place my hand on my heart and immediately my loving thought would appear and I would calm my breathing down and relax. Of course, I do this everyday a couple of times a day. If you start now, within a couple of days you will automatically be calming yourself down.
There is also another type of calming technique I used with my clients where I would tell them to focus on the colors of the rainbow, in order, and attach something loving to each color. I hope this helps... Please keep posting and Ill figure out what calming technique works for you.. Good Luck

 Just remembered something positive to share with everyone.  Remember this please because it will help with all who are suffering from the anxiety after or during your withdrawal symptoms... For every negative thought you have, it takes 3 positives to remove the effects of your negative thought.

Positive thinking as much as you can, as many times as you can during the day...

Carleeta,

Thanks for your wonderful idea!  I will give this a try...

I just read about cardinals... a cardinal is a representative of a loved one who has passed. They are visiting you to let you know that they are there to help you.  ( I just saw a female cardinal on my patio - there is a pair living in my back yard). They will also appear at times of celebration in order to be there with you!  I love this story!  It, being a part of nature, gives me hope!

I appreciate your sharing w/me Carleeta and hope that it works for me as well!

Hugs,

Liz

Liz, you are bringing tears to my eyes with this story of cardinals. I was just in the backyard, feeling light and grateful for this peaceful mind moment, and here comes M Cardinal with his whistling. That made me smile. This happens often lately, and deep inside, I do feel they are trying to tell us something.

And now you bring this up, I will look it up. The cardinals amaze me, in a fascinating way. Have a pair in front of my balcony and a pair in the back. Thanks Liz.

Wonderful suggestion from Carleeta, thank you also.

Hugs, TryinginFl, Definitely Cardinals are a sign from a loved one who has passed and comes around to let you know everything is ok, they are looking upon you and keeping you safe. :)

This is exaclty right. i read an article in "Mountain Express" the alternative weekly newspaper in Asheville, NC, written by a woman who had the EXACT same experience. she didn't have medicare/medicaid, just an individual insurance plan.
