I love when I can get up early and read; especially positives events. :)

Wagtail, I'm so glad you've found a good therapist; the more we talk, the less draining it is after a while.

The birds outside my bedroom window start @ 4:15 every morning.  The alarm clocks, my dogs, are up around 5.

All are a pin in the behind, when I'm trying to sleep until 5:30.

Have a Safe and Happy July 4th Everyone.

My positive for the day is that I took my "little old lady" wire shopping cart (although the millennials/yuppies around here have now also adopted them, so I guess I'm just "trendy") and went grocery shopping.....bought myself all sorts of treats....dried fruit, five kinds of cheese, etc....and a few basics, of course....had planned to just walk home from the market with the full cart....but that's where my plan went awry.....it's mid 90s here, and I nearly fainted as I was waiting to cross the street....(even in my best of years, I couldn't deal with heat and sun, it's only gotten more so as I age).....so, I had to go into a little restaurant and buy a bottle of water...sat there and cooled off, went back out and hailed an air conditioned cab, came home in comfort....

I'm now finishing up a little snack of Stilton cheese with stoned wheat thin crackers....and drinking a huge glass of water...a/c on high....

FN...  Good for you!

Sounds like good stuff you're snacking on!  Sorry about the heat thing - I have the same problem down here but today it is really windy due to the tropical storm off the east coast, so being outside is bearable :)

My positive for the day is the aqua fitness class I took this morning and by 1 this afternoon I was exhausted.  (Am not sleeping well at nite, so was thankful to take a nap!)  After the 3 hour nap, I feel great! Things are starting to look better and I am taking the Alprazolam as RX states - 2/day.  Taking 12 hrs apart and have been able to stave off the anxiety for now.  I hope this continues!

Wagtail...  I hope that your anxiety improves as you stick to the new meds - do that now! :)

Air3333... you are indeed lucky and I know that your age is definitely in your favor - YAAAYYY!!!

Clearglass...  so good to hear from you - sounds as though you are doing well - I'm so happy for you!! :D

Xman ... please hang in there - I am almost at 6 months off and just beginning to feel almost human - you will get there!

Love, hugs and prayers to all...

Liz

    Withdrawal from Cymbalta.

Posted 02 July 2014 - 01:00 PM

Hi to everyone. I am now down to 30 mg. of Duloxotine. I'm staying here for awhile as I am going to be visiting my daughter in Oregon and don't want to count beads while I'm gone.

By bead counting I had very few bad side effects. I do take a half a Xanex a day to ward off the dizzy tipsy feeling I got from the withdrawal. .25 Xanex.

My pharmacist told me how to figure it out. If it's too much go to half that amount or even go less. I went less. One thing is to not be afraid to drop off slowly. It's getting off that counts. I drop 10 mgs. in 25 days. So it took me 3 months or a bit more to get down to where I am. If I didn't feel well with where I was in dropping I would stay where I was for about 3 days and then continue my dropping. It's progress not perfection. And personally I think the slower the better.

There are about 84-85 beads in my new pill per 10mgs. I divided 84 by 25 and I come out with 3.36 which would be my bead amount. I will drop 3 or 4 a day for 25 days and be down 10 more mgs. I will more than likely do 3 a day so it will take a bit longer than 25 days.

I started by only dropping one bead per day and as I felt better I went to 2 beads a day. You could try that too, but don't ever feel bad if it doesn't work for you. Drop at your pace.

Divide your bead amount by the first number of your mg amount. EX 500 beads divided by 6(60mgs.). Answer 83.333333. I divide that by 25 and get 3.3333333. So I am going to take 3 maybe 4 out a day and in 25 days or more I will be down 10 mgs. You can do this for any amount of beads you have. I hope this helps.

My positive for the day .... dealing with Verizon without crawling through the phone line and strangling the persons so unfittingly called "customer service rep"... it took me from 10:30 a.m. until just now ... I kid you not... just to change my landline service to a lower cost plan that suits my usage better....

I had to fight my way through three jackasses and one supervisor.... got disconnected twice...and even now I don't trust they really made the change... so I'll call back tomorrow to verify the order number and request...

These people have horrible jobs ... and they do horribly at them .... aaaargh.....

Positive, for sure!! I cant even imagine the day in the future where I will pick up the phone & be able to handle Verizon cust serv!!
Last call I made was a few days in of down dosing off 30mgs of C-word & I went batshit on the phone & insulting the b&*tch that said I was prejudice!!!! Whhhaaaat!?? I couldnt understand her & ask her to speak slower, her indian accent was difficult at best to make out her responses...So, cancelled movie channels like that was going to piss her off, yeah, right, Rebecca...now you have no HBO etc to escape to!!

Yeah, now that I think about it, one of those disconnects was likely the V dude hanging up on me... I got some foreign sounding guy...not Indian, sounded Caribbean or West African.... any way, he was reading from a script...

I let him read for a bit, and quickly did some googling, and lo and behold, came up with the Verizon customer support/sales script manual ....

I found the exact page he was reading from and started reading out loud right along with him, word for word, in unison ... when he gasped, and there was a break in his reading, I said that I wanted to talk to a real human being, and asked politely if there were any available...

click....

FN, that is hilarious! What an awesome trick you pulled on that person! It sucks for them, as they are doing their job for corporate kings, but maybe it is also hilarious for that person and probably provided for a funny story  when they went home :)

My positive of the day: I started a blog on finding the light within depression. I started it for me so I could have an online safe haven. I distributed the link to no one. Within a day, someone started following, within a week, there are seven people following. I started this blog wondering if people would even be interested in reading the words I had to say, I suspected to never even get one follower.  It feels nice, because I look at the blogs of those who are following mine, and we have so much in common.

Through this site and the blog I have been reminded that there are a lot of kind people online that can help with depression. There are people out there that can listen and know where I are coming from, it's lovely.

Lol lol...yipeeeeee. .I'm still here...wow after getting back from my trip and getting pics uploaded all of a sudden I got up from my chair and attempted to pick something up from the kitchen floor and poof there came back pain from my lower back all the way to my neck..wow, unbelievable! Lol lol...had to stop curves, sleep on different bedding, different pillows, alternating. ..couldn't bend..The whole nine yards...naturally went to my md...now I'll be going to pain management. .ouffff! During this uncomfortable nerve racking time I had to make center pieces for my son and daughter in laws baby shower among other things for this event which I was not giving...lol lol lol...Needless to say I was not happy...Although positively it was a beautiful turn out..lol lol...my family from Florida surprised the family and came north for this glorious event.. I've had a houseful up until today when they left to return home..I am blessed they gave me much help and made me stay off my feet for a few weeks...Now that they are gone I feel well enough to get ready for a Bell Fest weekend with my family here and our 15 K Boiler maker Road Race where my son, cousins, and many friends along with the top runners in the world will be running...It's been many years since I ran this course, although I'm an active volunteer (which this year I'll be an active spectator..lol lol...family, doctor, and my nephew md has ordered)...lol lol...I did get permission to attend all pre and post race parties...lol lol...I would have gone to those anyway..lol lol...Dinner tonight with the elite runners as they have arrived 9 am today...my family heads this race and I do much of the elite runners itinerary. ..Therefore I'm not missing this 5th dinner to we come them and then I'm off to The Polish Bell Fest.. (these two events are not related to one another)..Tomorrow morning I'm working the Health and fitness Expo for the race and watch the youth runners ages 1 thru 13 run along with elite runners...Then attend another dinner for the top runners in the world and off the the 2nd night of a polish Bell Fest...Rise at 5am Sunday morning to pick up fresh donuts and bring themto my childhood neighborhood where we have coffee and donuts together and walk to the corner at 7:30 am to catch the start of the race and catch the wheelchairs passing us at 8am..and the I facial race begins...10,000 will pass right by me...I'm positive blessed to be watching the race this year even though I'm unable to volunteer on the course...Lol lol...to top off the race I'm attending a post party race at my old home where a party will be given for my son, cousins, and friends are having...yipeeeeee

Thanks for this positive thread.  I keep reading about the terrible withdrawals but nice to hear people have beat this and hopefully I will be that person in a bit.  I weaned from 60mg to 30mg now off and still getting brain zaps and feeling crappy but coming here I hope to see more people beating it and gives me strength to keep on going and not feeling that I am going crazy.  Thanks and best wishes to all of you.

Welcome blueyegirl49!

We're happy that you are joining us...you will find much caring and support here!

You mention that you have weaned from 60mg to 30mg and now off - did you do this cold turkey??  Somehow it sounds that way and if you are having brain zaps that pretty much describes one of the effects of the horrible cold turkey withdrawal.  How long have you been off the 30mg and did you do any bead counting?  How did you "wean" from 60 to 30?  I am a cold turkey survivor of over 6 months now and it is definitely not what I would recommend - bead counting is much kinder to your body and brain.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but we need to know the details so that we can help you :)  There are some very knowledgeable people here who can answer your questions - please feel free to question, rant, and by all means tell us how you are feeling...

If you have not already read some of our forums, I suggest that you check them out - there is much knowledge to be gained from them!

We are all here for you and we care - no matter what you need to say, it is all OK here...  this is a very safe place!

Again, welcome!  I wish you much luck and just know that this is possible - we are all pulling for you!
