Hello,

I want to discontinue Cymbalta and am looking for a schedule or plan. I have managed to get off it before but went back on by my own choice. It does seem to help me while I'm on it but I remember the days of being off it and how glorious they were. I want my mind and body back. I am aware that I may need to be on something for depression but I hope that I have learned enough and healed enough not to have to. I am curious to know how others have gone off Cymbalta successfully. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Amyper16...

Glad you have found our forum and we will do our very best to help you.

It is quite frequently heard that people want their mind and body back as you say. Some anti-depressants have a habit of making us feel very numb physically, mentally and emotionally.

Most of our members have quit using what is referred to the bead counting method. This involves opening up the capsules and removing a number of beads gradually over a period of time to make the withdrawal as comfortable as possible and to limit any potential effects of the withdrawal. There is a lot of information about this, among many other things in our free eBook, which you can download here;

In order to give you the best advice, can you say how long you have been on cymbalta this time, and what dose you are on? We can then give you an idea of you best way forward.

Look forward to hearing from you,

IUN
