This sounds very much like what one of our members is going through right now. His member name is LDN.

I speak to him frequently off forum, and what you have explained sounds very much like what you are going through.

He has had Lyme's disease and ME as well, so has really been through it, and his auto-immune is also shot. He has been treated by the best in the UK for anti-inflammatory remedies.

As a result of having to spend most of his time looking after himself I would ask you kindly not to write to him directly. I will write to him tonight with the above details, and I am sure he will give you a few pointers in the right direction as to how best to combat this.

Along with FishingHat, he is the nicest guy I have ever met, but please respect that, unlike myself and Hat, he does not have the time we have as he is having to look after himself.

I will report back with what he tells me.....

I wish you the very best,

IUN

Thanks IUN,

That would be really appreciated if you could. It looks as tough before I was looking for supplements for diabetic peripheral neuropathy. These are still really useful and are helping me with pain. But I really want to get to the cause now , the inflammation.

Anti-inflammatories?  What a can of worms you opened there.  lol

Basically two choices, topical and oral medication/supplements. Many topicals do not absorb deeply enough for neuropathy. Of all the topicals I am familiar with I would recommend OTC diclofenac. It is very good for many deep muscle/joint pain. If any topical might help that would be it. (My humble opinion). As far as oral treatments, it is really hit and miss. Turmeric and alpha lipoic acid have good reputations BUT can really destroy a stomach. From what I have read and heard from people it is just a matter of trying one at a time and seeing what works for an individual. I wish I could provide you a good option.

Hi JC....

So along with Hat's advice, I received this back from LDN for you...

"So in terms of the person on the forum with suspected long covid, it is hard to suggest any medication/supplements straight up, because generally you need to do big blood tests, find what the covid has reactivated and then treat that specifically. So like me and my CMV being re-activated very high and I am treating the CMV. If it was another virus, I would be doing a completely different programme, with something targeted for that specific virus. Long covid is basically just covid reactivating dormant viruses in us. It is really the covid itself that is harming us, it is the covid re-activating something dormant and then that virus being the problem.

Obviously covid does cause massive levels of inflammation, way more than flu or anything like that, but it is hard to treat inflammation if you don't know where it is.

CBD is very anti inflammatory so that is option.

I also take long term curcumin forte for my brain inflammation, as curcumin is anti-inflammatory.

Then I take Vitamin C, Zinc and Quercetin for covid recovery.

But it is still such early days with long covid so it is still very much an area where there is lots of research and people are trying to figure things out. Certainly 'traditional' mainstream medicine has no treatment for it right now."

I really hope that offers some means of support for you. It makes sense to me, especially the fact that the long covid situation is still very early in its research stages...

Again, thanks guys. Great advice. And please pass my thanks to the other member.

My doctor is sending me for loads of blood tests as the private neurologist requested they do so. And I'm already taking Vitamin C, Zinc and Quercestin - these helped me greatly during my first bout of long covid. So it looks like I may be on the correct road.
