I started following this site several years ago when I tried to stop taking Cymbalta (several times) but the withdrawals were unbearable. I was looking for help in easing the withdrawal symptoms, came across this forum and understood from all of the posts I've read, that it was going to be a long process.

And it was.... It's been a 3 year taper and am in my 5th week of no Cymbalta and so far, so good. Slow and steady was my approach until the very end.

I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone for giving me the courage and assistance I needed to get through this.

Hi Jodi

Thank you for such a lovely post. It is great to know that the site is helping people in the background as well as those who voice their concerns. It sounds like you have done really well with your withdrawal. If you are on the 5th week and feeling stable, then I would say you are through the worst. Highly unlikely that you will have a comeback at this stage - although compelled to say possible, but my wish for you is that it only gets better from here on in.

Thanks again and all the very best,

IUN

Fantastic!! You should be very proud of yourself. If I had it to do over again (God forbid) I would take 3 years as well.

Thank you! I am proud of myself. I almost gave up after reading the troubles some experienced. I was frightened to give it a try and pretty much resolved myself to the fact that I would have to stay on this stuff for the rest of my life. I decided to forge forward and give it my best try.

I've been on Cymbalta for 12+ years. 60mg initially, then 30mg, then 20mg

For me, I think the reduction of one bead per week (after reaching 20mg) until I was finished, was my solution along with adding Omega3 two weeks prior to the final bead.

At this five week point, I'm only experiencing low energy and a slight constant headache ..... something the Omega3 helps me with almost immediately after taking it.

Thanks again everyone!!!

Yes would say that Omega 3 would be your friend there. Good choice.

If you have any further issues, questions or symptoms, you know where we are.

But again, well done for doing this much on your own and I am glad the site helped you.

Ok looks like it's using my old name I guess it's ok. I'm thinking about you all. I just Read that success story about and it's very encouraging. I'm now in year four of trying to get off this and for those of you who might read that and freak out just know that I have concurrent issues with PTSD and multiple concussions so my situation is a little more complicated. That being said go very slow I'm still on 14 beads twice a day and I'll stay here until after the holidays probably into February and then perhaps try again but it's been a very long haul I was initially on 180 mg! Can you believe that a doctor prescribing that huge amount?? Anyways thinking of you all quite often lately and thought I'd pop on just say hello and give you my love everybody keep going doing your best and that's all we can hope for support each other and keep going

Hey H!!

Yes - been a while since I've been in touch - my apologies. Life never gets slower or easier.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and family still.
