Hi grungerock.

Whilst different meds can affect people in different ways, you are right in thinking that 5mg Lexapro is equivalent to 30mg Cymbalta, yes.

If you need help with the taper let us know

Yes I need help with Taper. I am on 60 mg (2 tablets of 30 mg) for exactly 1 year and alreaedy starting to taper by counting beads reduction.

I take my medicine at 1030 am daily

I do suffer from nausea in afternoon  (12 pm - 4 pm) but it is manageable for now.  I try not to reinstate higher dosage.

When I reach the target Cymbalta 30mg I plan to see if I can continue beads reduction, otherwise I want to cross to Lexapro 5 mg. Then I want to taper down Lexapro from there.

Please advise and any tips let me know in advance.

Thank you.

That sounds like a workable plan GR. Just remember to take your time. How many beads in your capsules and how much are you dropping at a time?

I also would strongly suggest that you look through our free ebook. It is a summary of what members have tried, their outcomes, medical research, supplements, diet and more. It should give you ideas on how to cope with symptoms if/when they develop. A link can be founf in the first pinned post in the Medical Support section of the forums. Please feel free to ask any questions. We are here to help.

The plan is there but you need to remember that the Lexapro will take a good 4-6 weeks to kick in, so if you do a direct switch from 30mg cymbalta to 5 mg Lexapro, do not expect plain sailing.

The problem you have is that the 5mg Lexapro is not scored, which means you cannot cut it in half expecting 2.5mg in each piece - this will only be guaranteed IF THE MED IS SCORED.

What I would suggest is that you introduce the 5mg Lexapro at the 30mg Cymbalta mark, and by the time a continued bead drop is done, the lexapro should have started to kick in. You can then reduce from them. Trust me - I know each person is different, but I did exactly what you are looking to do with Cymbalta and Lexapro and it didn't work out well. You will find it all documented here on the site.

I am dropping 1 mg per day from 60mg to target 30mg. Then I will hold at 30mg to stabilize.
